RBISOH BVetIS GCHS CH Southpaw's I Can Do The Stray Kat Strut JH BCAT CGC TKN

Tipsy came to live with me in Montana back in May of 2015. Bred by June Cuthbertson and Thomas Boersma in Michigan, Tipsy lived the first 4 years of her life on June's couch, bed, and RV when on the road for dog shows. But, wanting to retire and travel with the summer sun, especially during the colder months of the year, and not wanting Tipsy's youth and potential to be wasted in an RV, June reached out to me and asked, without spewing a book long story, if I wanted to take the next step in purebred dogs by starting a program of my own with Tipsy. Take her to shows, learn more about how to handle, how to groom, genetics, and take her to events that were just out of reach to her in the past. I agreed.

So Tipsy spent about a month just hanging out and chilling in my bed, going out on hikes and outings to town, trying to get a feel for one another, but she settled into being the queen of the roost pretty quickly, and it didn't take long before we became a familiar sight in placements at the shows.

Multiple Best of Breed wins, as well as multiple Best Opposite and Selects. Many Owner Handled Group placements, and a Reserve Best Owner Handled in Show.Bred for the first time in December 2015 to DC AFC Beaver's Straight Arrow, two months later she whelped the litter that gave me my first Bred by, Spunky.

She was a calm, attentive mother to her first litter, and even more relaxed a mother when she had her second litter, which gave me Kintla, at which point Tipsy was more content sleeping in my bed while Spunky babysat, only getting up to feed when they got a little noisy. (All of this was supervised. They were separated if I couldn't watch)

She got her first experience on birds just shortly before we went off to my first ever (and her first) Hunt Test, working with the Montana Sharptail NAVHDA Chapter to get a feel for what she could do with a bird, and she was a natural. Natural point, natural retrieve, minimal steadiness, which is more a training issue than anything, and my knowledge on training a field dog was bottom of the barrel.

That being said though, we went, and came home with 4 orange rosettes and a new JH title, just from that one weekend, with scores of mostly 8's & 9's. It was at that test I learned just how natural a retriever she was, because she caught about 80% of the birds she popped up, and brought them all back to me proudly. She earned her Bronze GCH in June of 2017 in Blackfoot, Idaho, and then a day shy of exactly a year later, she finished her Silver GCH in Filer, Idaho. From Bronze to Silver a dog has to earn another 100 points. So that wasn't a small feat she accomplished.

Tipsy low key retired from the breed ring at the age of 8 in 2018, though was (and still is) still competing in Veterans. In Missoula one year at the age of 7 I showed her in the breed ring where she took Best of Breed, left the ring, then walked right back in with her for Veterans. The judge looked at me, looked at Tipsy, and said "Didn't I just give you best of breed?" "Yes Ma'am you did." "Dang... well all the way around please.". She didn't believe Tipsy was 7 years old.

She came out one day in 2019 for a friend of mine to show in Blackfoot, just so she could say she handled "Mama Dog" as we called her back then, where she went Select again, then she again low key retired from the breed ring until November 2020 where she competed at the American Brittany Club National Specialty show in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

She didn't place in the breed ring there, but she did take 3rd place in the 8-10 Veterans Sweeps for the girls. She was spayed two weeks after returning home, just a few days before Christmas.

She's also dappled in NADAC Agility and also earned her Beginner Coursing Ability Test (BCAT) title!Tipsy will be 12 in December, and is still out doing short hunts in the fall, and competing in Veterans when clubs offer it. But most importantly, she is still the queen of the pack, and nobody messes with Grandma.
